11 miles away in either direction

We love this place. We found a waterfall only 11 miles away. It's called Snoqualmie Falls. Take a look. It's beautiful. We went up on Saturday, but it was so foggy and misty we couldn't see more than 30 feet. We could hear it, but couldn't see it. Ice was falling from the trees even. The next day it was unseasonably warm and sunny without a cloud in the sky so we went back up. This time it was really windy (Reena didn't like it at all) but much warmer than the day before. No ice on the trees anymore.

What we love so much about the area is that places this natural and cool are closer to us than downtown Bellevue, which is about 11 miles west from where we are, while Snoqualmie Falls is about about 11 miles East from where we are.

Here's the video of the experience. It's sorta loud so you might want to turn your volume down before watching it.

Pet Rats

So last weekend Dan convinced me to go get some pet rats. He's been saying how much he wanted to have them as pets for a while now but I'm just not a pet person. I just think they're too much to take care of and also dirty. We got them and spent more money than i intended. They weren't expensive but their cage, bedding, food, and toys and oy vey all those things that Dan wanted to get for them. But Dan and Reena seemed happy and even I thought they were a little cute though this week Reena got bitten twice by them. It was all cute and good until she got hurt. I'm beginning to think it was not a good purchase. I'm also paranoid about them passing any diseases through their bites. Anyone have any experience taking care of pet rats before? Advice?

We must bring balance to the force!

The Stevens side needed more girls so we provided the supply. We're having another baby girl and we are very excited. Dan is already feeling the excitement of being overloaded with cuteness. The ultra sound showed the baby coming on May 23rd rather than the 26th. Reena was 3 days early weighing at 8 lbs 15 ounces so I wouldn't mind this baby coming early too, though not too early so I won't miss my sister's wedding. Yeah everybody said I'm crazy for going but it will be in Utah rather than D.C so that cuts the flight time to 4 hours less. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed!

Travel Log #1 January 2009

Vancouver, BC Canada
With Vancouver only 2 and a half hours away from Seattle, we decided to go up and see some pretty places for fun. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy.

Lions Gate Bridge
A landmark of Vancouver and the North Shore. The bridge is often used in television broadcasts as a symbol of Vancouver.

Lynn Canyon Bridge.
This bridge was built in 1912, so instead of solid steel, you've got narrow wooden slats under your feet. And that's all that's separating you from a 166 foot drop to Lynn Creek below. The view from the bridge was spectacular--if you have the nerve to stop and look at it.

Grouse Mountain
Grouse Mountain is one of the North Shore Mountains overlooking Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We went on the Grouse Moutain skyride and a short sleigh ride here. It was neat but very cold. Reena's favorite part was where she was able to have some water and hot chocolate.
