Living to Love. Loving to Serve

THE CUTENESS CORNER

FALL FOR WASHINGTON

First of all, is it really almost half way through OCTOBER already???
Conference suggested that it is to us. We watched conference in the comfort of our home through the internet on the Mac. It was a wonderful weekend with sunshine and somewhat warm weather. The low 60's is a bit cold for me but Dan loves it. Saturday morning I made us an unhealthy breakfast with sausages and blueberries amazing pancake borrowed from Tiffany Applegate, Dan's sister's Amazing Apple Pancakes recipe. It was delicious!! Sunday Dan made us breakfast this time with fried eggs and once again Tiffany's delicious pan cake recipe. Yes we had an overloadedness of cholesterol that weekend.

The theme for conference this round seems to be about LOVE and SERVICE. On the way home from the House of Hope I saw this sign outside of a newly built church: Living to Love. Loving to Serve. I felt somewhat impressed to write a little bit about this as the theme for conference seemed similar to it. I've been working with the women at the House of Hope, a shelter for women and children and volunteering some of my time to reconnect the homeless with their families. It's been a great opportunity for me to truly see how important service is to the lives of those less fortunate than us. A homeless man told me "Don't tell me you know. You don't know how it's like to be sitting out here in the cold and not have a place to go." I couldn't say anything back. It's true, I really don't know. My parents practically gave me a house and spoiled me rotten but what I don't want is to be rotten. I want to give and to care. I have since give clothes and food and I'm planning on organizing a non profit organization to help feed the homeless.

THE CHILLING CORNER
That's right folks! For you desert people the weather is now nice enough to play outside and not get burnt. For us, we've had it all spring and summer long and now we're going into hibernation or vacation. Going to plays, watching movies (which btw Reena has been taking a great interest in Star Wars and quoting it now), shopping and eating. The holidays are here and we can't wait to see families. We're heading to Arizona baby!

CREATIVE CORNER - REEENA

Reena, I love her. I need to write this down to remind me that I do love her. But she does not know what hurts. Let just say I'm surprised my miracle and angel baby Debrie is still alive. Reena jumps on her, pick her up by the neck, roll her over by the leg and toss her around when I'm not looking. It seems nowadays that painting is the only thing that calms Reena down a bit. Movies don't do it anymore. It seems that after all, the greatest work a mother can do is TO KEEP ALL HER CHILDREN ALIVE!!

My dear Thuan - It is a very good thing that babies were made sturdy as we wouldn't have any children left in the world ! My sweet daughter, Connie, I caught once climbing up and leaning over Scott's crib with baby powder just ready to 'powder' his face. It would have choked him to death - she was 3 years old. A year or so later, I found them both by the dryer with Connie helping Scott in so she could close the door. I am sure she would have found a way to climb up and start it! Motherhood is filled with many exciting 'scary' times. Thank goodness - most of them live through it. We loved the pictures, the girls are growing up so fast. Did you say you were going to Arizona? Right away or for the holidays? We love you all so much. Give the babies a hug from us and a big one for Dan also. Much love, Grandma

Dear Grandma,
I miss you so much. I really want to go visit you but I don't know when will be the best time. Maybe in April! We're thinking about driving down to Utah for Conference weekend and to sell our house. Maybe we can meet up.
We're heading down to Arizona on Wednesday for a week so Reena can go trick or treating with her cousins. We'll be here for the holidays and my family and mom and dad are coming to visit us. We hope you could come up and visit us sometimes, though I recommend the spring, summer, and early fall as the weather is best in those 3 seasons and not so much in the winter. We love you and grandpa so much and I hope to have an album out for Christmas to give you.
Love,
Thuan
