On Going Entertainment

Happy Cinco de Mayo. I've been a slacker and haven't blogged for May at all. Slacking or extremely busy, hm? Let's see, a summary of May for me looks like this. 3 concerts, 2 auctions, rehearsals, birthday party. Adding to that teaching preschool, organizing field trips, and visiting the homeless. Dan has been amazing at helping. Without him I wouldn't be able to do half of those things.
We have a little update for our faithful followers. Up until our trip to Utah/Idaho we would often go up to our lot just to enjoy its surroundings, parks, trails, forest and such just to remind ourselves that we didn't pay an arm and a leg for just a tiny little lot. We love the Highlands no doubt there, but sometimes we forget that the reason they tore down all the trees, cut the lot sizes down and build parks is for people to meet and greet. We often asks ourselves if we should've gotten further out of the busy city life and crowdedness of the Highlands community and be out in the country. I love the country homes and the looks on them, but being a country girl is not part of that list. But then spring comes and we are taken back to the trails, the parks and the mountains that surround the Highlands.
These are some things we see on our trail walk. Tree roots.
When we got back from our vacation, the lot had a big hole in the ground. Now the foundation is poured and this week the frames will be up. We're SO EXCITED!

Brie's Big 2
Happy 2nd Birthday Brie! She's been with us for 2 years. She's a beauty and a joy. She was so excited to come to earth. She came within 10 minutes of being in the hospital, she walked at 10 months, began potty training at 15 months and has been great ever since. We feel so lucky and blessed to have her in our family.

She got covered in boo boos on her birthday. But like always, she's proud of them. She loves to show them off to people.
Doing the birthday dance with daddy.
Our presents to her this year: handmade stuff. Also hours spent. I had many Real Estate guilt trips :)
In one of my statuses on facebook, a friend suggested that cardboard boxes are the best toys for kids and she was right! Thank you Celeste Sperlein. You saved my life! So to distract Brie and Reena from bugging me while I got party things ready, I got them this to play in. Wall-E's truck.
The house was covered in party banners and decors days before the actual party
I made her a birthday hat with my square craft paper. Knew I needed to save that paper for this occasion. Also, septuacentenial cupcakes in cups for the cupcakes!
Planning Brie's birthday took hours and days of work. I had more ideas than I had time for. I need a committee to carry it all out. Hours of Real Estate were sacrificed to make it happen. It was all very fun though and well worth it. Reena helped paint the rocket and I did some cutting and Dan finished if off. Brie really liked the rocket and everyday the week before the birthday she wanted to watch Wall-E so she could see Eve's rocket. Brie LOVES Wall-E and Eve. She's seen the movie about 30 times. So of course Wall-E had to be the theme for this birthday party.
Everyone got a boarding pass to board the Axiom. They also got Wall-e masks, and BnL t-shirts that we made. Dan slaved away on the t-shirts while I spent 4 hours taking pictures of people at the black tie event and I was nervous that he wouldn't do them right. But alas, they got done in time for the party! Even Dan and I got to have Buy and Large t-shirts. I forgot to take a pic of all of them and remembered just before our last 3 guests came.
Getting the gears on. The birthday girl is helping her guests with Wall-E masks!
Leaving earth through Eve's rocket. It's play time...
The guards had to be at the entrance of the Axiom to check for any non ticket holders trying to board the Axiom.
I made Brie a Wall-E cake. The hardest part was keeping her away from touching the cake and when we asked her to cut the cake, she looked at us funny and didn't want to touch it. I had to guide her hand.
Want a piece of cake? Star cookies or donut planets? Too much sweets? I'd say yes.
Time for something a little bit healthier. Lunch in a cup!

Time to see what Earth has to offer. Debrie even got a plant (broccoli) to plant for the summer.

We were able to get a somewhat clean picture of everyone (all except 1) before the messy pizza plants came out.
The mammas waiting for their Axiom travelers to come back to Earth.
Coming back to Earth! Thanks to Amazon.com, I was able to find all these posters for under $7 total. What a deal considering that that price includes shipping.
A treat for kids.
Brie and Reena were treated to the children's museum. What a fun place. We spent 3 hours here and will have to go back for the lego and firestation. We went through 3/4 of it and ran out of time. What great fun!

May is a month for concerts. First there was the Glee concert/auction. The Metropolitan Glee Club and I sang. I donated a photography session valued at $150 and a cake. Then there was the Mamma's Hands black tie dinner and auction where I was in charge of photography. Four hours is a long time when you take pictures. The food was fabulous and the place is on top of a hill in a place that looks like a castle. See this site for pictures. http://seastevensphotography.blogspot.com

After the Glee dinner and auction we had 3 more concerts. Rehearsals were long and tiring, although not as bad as theater. Long and tiring but very rewarding. I was offered an opportunity to perform a solo for the concerts and took advantage of the opportunity to practice the song "Going Home" that Grandma Evans requested me to sing for her funeral which I hope will be a LOOOOONGGG time from now. This was a great song to sing. I had such a great time with it and many, many people loved it. I felt like a star after each concert.

Stay tuned for Crayfishing, and Dan's new office...
