Don't Fall

Hold out summer! Just a bit longer. September was beautiful. It stayed warm until about the end of September when the temperature dropped about 10 degrees. Most of the time it was about 75 degrees, although we had some record high days where we were in the 80's. Beautiful weather.
September was full to the top. I'm not sure I remember everything that happened. But a good place is the beginning. Reena had her first week of school and being not shy anymore she stood in line waiting to go inside her classroom and chit chatted with many kids and made some good friends. I of course had my own fair share and made 4 new friends. Two are LDS from our soon to be new ward and two are not. Since we see each other everyday during drop off and pick up, we've become best friends. Our kids also play very well together. Each of us have a 5 year old and each of us have a 2 year old. It's all very interesting and fun.
My brother left Seattle on labor day weekend. It was a great summer with him here. Free babysitting, can't beat that! Although the longest babysitting he did for us was for when we went to see Harry Potter when it came out. He's a boy I guess.

Labor Day
Labor Day was a fun day for us. We got together with the cousins for a fantastic bbq potluck and games. We played Settler's of course and Dave bbq'd some great steaks and hamburgers/hotdogs. Dan made some awesome jerky and we shared it with everyone. We all loved it so much that just about every week in September he made jerky and is now considering HUNTING to support our jerky ADDICTION. The girls loved having their cousins so close by and could live at their house and be happy for the rest of their lives. Everyday I get asked "Can I go over to the cousin's house mamma?
The Circus
Ever since Brie turned 1 her daddy has threatened to sell her to the circus. Mostly on days when she's bad. Like when she's climbing on the table and chairs, drawers, lamps, piano, etc. Finally they get to see what the circus is all about. We signed both of them up for gymnastics so this was a great opportunity to show them some tricks. It was very loud and Brie was interested in about half of it, the other half of the circus she wanted to watch movies on my phone. Reena loved it and was most impressed by the elephant head stand. We had a great time eating pop corn and watching all the impressive tricks and the amazing acrobats. We weren't allow to take pictures due to the flash bothering the animals. so I sneaked some pictures with my phone.

The Fair (Puyallup Fair)
Every year Puyallup, which is about 40 minutes from our house puts on a huge fair. They have shows by celebrities and people from all over come and perform. There are rides and farm animals and more rides and farm animals and shows. My sister decided to do a Seattle vacation and we were privileged to have her visit us. The kids adore her. She puts them to sleep every night and the last night she was here Reena made her cry with all the sweet things she said. Thanh was in tears coming out of her room and when she was uncontrollably crying about missing them, she said "this is worse than a break up". We laughed, she cried, the kids no doubt love her. Reena was especially happy that while at the fair she was able to ride on the Ferris wheel with her aunt Thanh. She's been dreaming about it, according to her.

Canada!
Canada was fun. It was my sister's first time to Canada so we tried to make it fun for her. I've been trying to convince her to go on the 2 day cruise to Vancouver on the Holland American Amsterdam cruise ship but she took too long deciding so they sold out. Oh well, there's always next year and the year after that and the year after that :). We had a great time at the Science World and we walked through their dinosaur exhibit and Reena was in Heaven! We then headed to Granville Island and had chocolate ice cream and shopped 'til we dropped. We rode the aquabus along False Creek and then headed home. It was a short day trip but it was very fun.

I loved having my sister here. I'm one lucky girl to have 3 smart and beautiful sisters who are such great examples to me. I love them.
I took the kids Halloween shopping, something they've never been able to do since I usually make their costumes. Unfortunately this year I'm a little too busy and I also don't want to search through my craft boxes to find my sewing machines. So we went and spent $75 in costumes! Whoa, I didn't know they were that expensive. I made both of their mermaid costumes for a third of that. The closest to this cost was perhaps the Star Wars costumes I made 4 years ago but that's because of the fabric. But that was for 3 people!! Anyway Reena will be a purple unicorn and Debrie will be a pink dragon. Yeah we're big into fantasy, can't you tell?

One of the things that I like to do is try different foods and then try to mimic it. I've been meaning to try some new sushi and wanted to see if my girls would like it. I took them to a fancy sushi restaurant that had many different kinds of sushi running on a conveyor belt in front of you and you choose whatever kind you want. To make the story short they didn't like it. I guess the seaweed was overwhelming.

September was a busy month simply because of some returning to a scheduled life. Seriously, responsibility, what's that? You mean I have to schedule my life around school?!
Dan, besides reading up on developing apps for the scriptures, for Valve, skateboarding, etc, also spends a lot of times reading classic novels during his travel to and from work. But when he's home the kids keep him busy. With all the things I somehow find myself doing, he's been a better stay-at-home parent than I am. Oops! I rejoined my Glee Club, going to rehearsals for the stake musical, and then gave a talk and performed a song at church. Besides music, seriously I do have other hobbies; I get together with my girl friends for interior decorating ideas, crafting, and more decorating and paint ideas. Dan and I spend a lot of time picking out appliances and designs for our tub and such. Yeah it's a lot of work and we're not sure we would do this again. This is purely for saving money...Yeah Right! It is looking pretty nice though and very satisfying to see our designs coming to life! Happy Fall everyone!!!
