Remember September?

September - wow that seems so long ago.  Seeing how this is the last day of October, I should try and finish this blog before the new month.  Why at 11:00 PM am I motivated to do our blog you might ask.  Well, I have a baby in my arms that does not want to go down.  He's asleep in my arms with a binkie in his mouth but as soon as you put him down, he wakes up.  Yeah we're off to a good start aren't we?  Bad habit.  Although I think it's partly due to my busy day today getting ready for Halloween and Dan's birthday bash on the porch.  I was putting the baby down for as many naps as he wanted.  There is the root to the problem.
But we're talking September and in September the baby was still in the oven.  We were camping and having fun in the nice outdoors.  We took the fam to the nearest campground and celebrated Labor Day by laboring with our hands and feet.  We went fishing at Easton Lake, but as always we and our girls always run out of patience and we just played in the water instead.  Maybe one of these days we'll rent a fishing boat and go fishing on Puget Sound and get some salt water fish.  I grew up with fresh water fish and was not a huge fan of their taste anyway.  The other thing we did was we cooked food outdoors and that was fun except Dan when he was in charge of bringing the gas stove, brought an almost empty bottle of propane.  Half way through cooking some chicken and fish, the propane ran out.  He felt really bad and I was to be honest very disappointed that he didn't realize that it was empty.  So back into the car he went and home he trotted so he could grab the other bottles of propane.  Mike my brother, the kids and I hung out skipping rocks and floated on the inflatable raft down the running river while we waited for Dan's return.  Good thing the campsite was only 45 minutes away from home.  We are very lucky to live so close to all these mountains.  Such a gorgeous place. Many campsites and hiking trails.

We shared space with a family of chipmunks

We weren't full on campfire food so we went out for a late night snack at the restaurant across from the campsite.  My brother got a huge burger, the kids and their daddy got milk shakes and sweet potato fries and I got that delectable slice of heaven.

And then it was back to school!!!!!
Our Second Grader
She loves her new teacher and looks forward to going back to school.  She has only one regret and that is her mommy won't be the art teacher for her class this year.  I'm sad about that too.  I loved being the art teacher the last 2 years.
I cut her hair.  I think she's a doll
We also celebrated the first week of school with McD.
Brie's PD at the Children's Museum
I have awesome and thoughtful friends.  They knew I needed rest so they offered to take Brie so I could nap and get things done around the house.  Brie was treated to the Children's museum for a PD

 Serving the Community
We dedicated an afternoon in service by asking shoppers to donate to the local food bank.  We stood outside the grocery store and passed out flyers.  Reena was amazing.  She turned the event into a game that had levels.  Each level was marked complete by passing out a certain amount of flyers.  She was not shy one bit of running up to people to tell them to donate to the food bank.  I think we've got a sales person in the family.

 Produce from our garden

Made into salsa and tomato sauce
Got a screaming deal on these fruits.  About $.48 on the peaches, nectarines and apples.

 Apple syrup!  yum!

When Reena is at school, Brie and I try to keep ourselves busy with canning and crafting.  We filled up this bean bag for example and take lots of walks
 Can you spot our house?
We bought more mulch, hired a single mom and her daughter to help us weed the yard because they needed money.  We felt pretty good about everything until we found out that if we had ordered a few more bucks of mulch that the delivery fee of $85 would've been waived.  Oh darn!

 Mexican style birthday party
I have a friend that I'm pretty close to that runs the playgroup with me.  She loves parties, oh so do I.  Except she's Mexican and parties are huge!!  I thought Vietnamese parties are huge, but Mexican parties are even bigger.  We shared how much each of our parties are and I was shocked.  She normally spends about $500-$600.  WOW.  Mexican birthday party-you invite the whole family and you walk away with more goodies than you brought to the party.

AND THIS IS THE TRUE PINATA SIZE IN MEXICO..  Unlike the little ones we see in the stores here in the US.
 My girls had a blast!

 NESTING-Prepping for Baby
Part of nesting for me was making sure my other children are taken care of.  I scheduled their dentist appointments and took them out to eat and spending some quality time together before we spend weeks of staying indoors.  I took Brie to Old Country Buffet for a mother daughter date and then took Reena and Brie for Bubble Tea and shopping.  Love my girls!
And this is the 9th month belly and this is what people were saying to comfort me :)  It was heavy!
