Taking back to November all I could think of was packing things back up and moving again and traveling. It all sounded too familiar. We kept asking ourselves, "are we really doing this again? Are we really?" Unfortunately Dan and I did not want to go back to the States yet. We felt like we just got to Vietnam but yet it had been nearly 3 months and over 3 months since we left our home and started our adventure, the adventure many wish to have but due to restrictions from jobs and duties that they could not walk away. We kept having to remind ourselves of this so we could have a thankful heart. It isn't cheap to bring a family of 6 across the Pacific, 3 times in 3 months. But when it's your brother's wedding and your parents were willing to go in half on the cost because they really really want you to be there, sure! Let more adventure begin! The kids were ready. They said they've missed their friends, their cousins, their aunts and uncles and grandparents and great grandma so how could you not be excited for them.
So we got everything packed up and moved over to my great aunt's house since she's got 3 floors in her house and got lots of room to store all of our stuff. It made me sick that we have that many things.
I love their interior decorations. It felt like a French vintage modern country
We went back to our old place during the day to sing songs and then said goodbye to the wonderful security we've had the last 3 months. From the security guys to the receptionists at Salamander Hotel and Apartments everyone were phenomenal. If it wasn't for wanting to try a new area in town, I might've considered resigning another contract.
We got our bags packed for a lighter travel than coming to the VN thankfully
Gonna miss the cousins chasing my kiddos around to feed them
But what we are not going miss for 2 months is the rainy and stormy season. 2 days before we left there was a strong typhoon hitting the north part of Vietnam that had a strong wind effect in Da Nang. it knocked over a tons of signs for APEC where Vietnam will welcome PresIdent Donald Trump and many other International leaders to Da Nang.
HONG KONG
It isn't like us to just travel straight without stopping somewhere. Asia amazes me of how big and how much is packed in. I told Dan I'm not sure we'll be able to check off all the places I want to see in just a year. We'll have to come back and do this again. We chose Hong Kong as a stop because it was so inexpensive to fly here from Vietnam. It was $35!! Holy moly how expensive is hotel here though. Hong Kong is HUGE! It's a New York of Asia or Tokyo is I'm not sure but skyscrapers every where!!! We got a resort at MUI WO and took a ferry into town to see Victoria Peak. I felt like we got our money's worth going on the ferry. It was so beautiful. Truly, no pictures can capture the beauty as the eyes can.
The tram going up to the peak was something else! I've never seen anything quite like this! The climb was amazing. The anticipation was well worth every dollar and the thing just kept going up and up!
Eggettes. These were so SCRUMPTIOUS! I want to go back and get some more. We also had Chinese food, real Chinese food :)
Well that was fun. We really liked Hong Kong and want to go back soon, especially after finding out that they have a Disneyland for a half the price as the one in California.
Then it was 5 hours later on a plane to Beijing where we were served food like kings and queens compared to Jetstar. We were very pleased with Hong Kong airline and Hainan airline. We got blankets, slippers, towels, headphones, and watched a few movies, ate 3 meals and 13 hours later were in Chicago.
We were not prepared for the wind and cold. We had to go buy jackets, boots, and gloves
