Ah hem, my birthday is coming in a week and a half and I'm trying to decide on what I want to get. I would like to see what some of you think is the better purchase. I know my sister in law Krista would choose a Bosch over a kitchen aid any day but I love the look of the kitchen aid, especially the red one. It will make my new kitchen absolutely stunning. The Bosch is also twice as expensive and my hubby just spent over $400 on his tools, that's not to mention the cost of his saw and wood! (Jeff, when Dan calls, just tell him "No you don't need that") Also, I think I would rather buy the fun attachment pieces to make like fresh pasta! But send me your votes though. I want to hear what you guys think. Thanks!

I only use my bosch for bread - I use my kitchen aid for everything else - perhaps because I'm used to it, but I think it's great! Besides, the kitchen aid has a bread attachment, too.
Thanks Tiff! I think familiarity is definitely the reason why I'm leaning towards a Kitchen Aid also.
If you want a great mixer with a strong motor go with the bosch. If you want the looks and a weaker motor go with the kitchen aid. We have had both and the bosch is hands down the better mixer. The price reflects this.
Just so you know, that last e-mail from us was actually from Ryan. I guess he has an opinion too.
Love, Krista
I'd not let dan buy anything else and get both.
You know what, I like this idea.
I really like my Kitchen-Aid but then again I have never used a Bosch. So I can't do any comparison testing - except for price - and I'm cheap.

Dear Thuan,
I have never used a Bosch but have had a Kitchen Aid for for about 27 years and I still love it. It has never given me a minute's trouble. I have the one that you tilt the top up to take the bowl out and Connie has the one you put a lever down to lower the bowl. Personally, I like the one you can lift/tilt the top up. It seems much more convenient to me. But that is a personal choice I guess. If you choose the Kitchen Aid - I also think the red one would be stunning in your kitchen. You can get almost any attachment for the Kitchen Aid. I always shred my cheese with my Kitchen Aid and it is so fast and easy - you can use different sizes to make the cheese coarse or fine shred - plus do your vegetables with it. Anyway, have fun choosing and am sure you will enjoy whatever you decide on. Just, most of all, have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
We love you and will see you soon. Grandma
Thuan-
I would say it depends on what you want to use it for. I have a red Kitchen Aid and I love how it accents my kitchen. I use it mostly for baking, rarely for making homemade bread. (I have a breadmaker I do my rolls and dough in). You can use the Kitchen Aid to make bread, but you are limited by the size of the bowl you have. In my bowl I can only do two loaves at a time. If you really want to make a lot of bread and rolls, I would probably get the Bosch. The Kitchen Aid is definitely prettier though:) The attachments for the Kitchen Aid are pretty expensive. We've looked at getting a sauce maker/babyfood/juicer maker attachment and for the two pieces we would need to buy it would be over $100. So the attachments can be pricey. Hope that helps and happy shopping:)

Thanks Becky and everyone. Very helpful! I usually only make 1 or 2 loaves of bread at a time. I like it fresh. I'm most interested in making pasta. I made some with a friend and it was SO GOOD. Thanks again.
I have a bosch and grew up with a bosch so I admit I'm biased. But it does so many wonderful things. I really like the blender part of it - we make salsa, smoothies, and shred chicken, etc with it - the motor is super strong. Make sure to get the cookie paddles with it, they are a good alternative to the mixing paddles.
