Tinker Reena

The Big 4

Have you ever seen a shy child at home? Yeah, they're not shy. In fact they are quite the opposite. There is no off button on Reena. Sometimes Dan and I will look at each other and laugh because it had been about 5 minutes and neither one of us had said a word, it was all Reena talking to us. Nonstop. So that's the description of Reena in a short summary. Besides talking and asking a lot of questions, here are some unique things about our Reena that inspired me to choose the party I did for her (with her help of course!)
Reena has an amazing memory and could quote movies after seeing it once. She could do a 200 piece puzzle on her own after a few rounds with a little bit of help. She is an amazingly creative artist. When she colors she stays within the lines of her pictures, no blemishes. She has painted several pictures and loves to tell us the story behind her paintings. Someday I will turn them all into a book for publishing. She loves putting things together, like legos, k-nex, train tracks, puzzles, and can spend a whole day with those items. She loves museums, especially museum of flights and science museums. She loves anything that flies, airplanes, butterflies, and fairies. Most especially she loves her sister Debrie and always give her hugs and kisses. She loves to sing and she has a very sweet voice. She's a natural.
Who does Reena remind us of? That's right. Tinkerbell. If you're not familiar with Tinkerbell, here's a little snippet. Tink is very good at fixing things and solving problems. She's known as the Pots and Kettles fairy, since she's good at repairing them. Pixie Hollow is a magical place, located through a portal behind a waterfall in Never Land. The fairies who live there make their homes in flowers, tree trunks, and other natural places. So I came up with the idea of a cake that has these descriptions. Reena absolutely loved her cake. She even helped mix the food coloring into the icing and helped me make some of the flowers. Making this cake was very fun for her.


First thing on the morning of her birthday was a surprise. We surprised her with this gift as soon as she woke up. She paid for that bike with her money and we really just got the helmet, knee and elbow pads.
The Party

The party had to be at a beautiful magical looking place with lots of trees since fairies live in a magical forrest. Not too hard to find around here. The reflections of the water from the sun created a perfect scenery for the theme.

First Activity: Finding Neverland
Every princesses got transformed soon after arriving. I got craft wings from Michaels and with cute decorations and glitter glue sticks, they got to make their own wings. After each princess had finished with their wings, they lined up to where I had put signs up that have directions on how to get to Neverland to receive their wings, which they decorated and let dried. Since the pavilion was big, the journey to Neverland was quite fun.
After they had performed the necessary steps. they were rewarded with their wings and got transformed into fairies. Terrance who is Reena's best buddy Connor, with the help of his dad rewarded each of the fairies with pixie dust, which allows the fairies to fly to the magical fountain. The magical fountain was pretty much Diet coke and Mentos, an experiment Dan wanted to do after seeing the diet coke experiment. The kids thoroughly enjoyed this part of the party.

After all the games and activities we did, Tinker Reena was ready to slice up her cake which have by now been rampaged by a couple of her fairy friends. The cupcake houses in the back have been taken and eaten by this time :).



Last thing was the goody bags. Each item in the goody represented each of the main fairies in Tinkerbell. Little puzzles (Tinkerbell) unfrozen ice pops (Silvermist) flower hair clips (Rosetta), Tinkerbell fruit snacks that had animal shapes and flowers (Fawn), Crayons representing light rays (Iridessa). I don't think I needed to go that far with the goodies for the kids, but their moms got it.
I looked every where from Target to Party Display and Costume for a cute Tinkerbell dress but everything was expensive and ugly. So I just gave up looking and made her this dress on the day of the party out of the fabric of one of my dresses that I didn't care to wear anymore but still in very good condition. I fixed up a headband and stuck green leaves and white flowers on it and cha bang, she loved it! That's the important part...and I'm also done with Halloween costume. Yay!
As my kids get older, they get bigger and bigger birthday parties. Probably because their mom didn't have big birthday parties growing up until she was 13 and had one and realized how fun it was. The best part about having a girl is they are always ready to help, like she was with decorating the cake. She also made all of the thank you cards for her friends. Thank you everyone for coming! She had a blast at her party because all of her friends were able to come.
