Princesses on Parade

February is one of my favorite months in the year. Really? You might say but it's true. Maybe it's because it's short and I feel the need to pack in more and when I'm busy I'm happier or something like that. I started the month out with taking a clay training class at Reena's school prepping for March and April's art class. In January I taught Pablo Picasso's Cubism at Reena's school and February we did Pablo Picasso again, except this time it was line and movement. Did you know all of Picasso's art isn't cubism. Yes, once this artist did curvy lines and soft edges and light movements. His art wasn't always like broken glass. I always have so much fun teaching these art classes each month. The kids in her school knows me as Mrs. Thuan, knows I'm Reena's mommy, and I love that. You learn so much more when you're teaching. My favorite church callings were teaching the adult's Sunday school and teaching Relief Society. I guess that's why I picked counseling psychology as a major. Counseling is teaching. It's all coming together now.

Brie on her way to preschool.
I watched a friend's kids for a week while she was in the hospital and her kids and our kids are the same age. Her older girl is in Reena's kindergarten class and her 2 and 1/2 is now Debrie's new best friend.

Oklahoma!
Dan and I went and saw Oklahoma at our favorite theater, the 5th Avenue Theater. It was such a wonderful musical. We sang "Oh what a beautiful day" for weeks after.

The KidsQuest Museum
A friend of mine bought a membership to this cool place and had 2 extra tickets so she called me up and invited me to come with her. We took our kids here and they had a blast. My kids are spoiled!

A Fun Short Visit
A friend of mine from High School and College had a conference in Seattle and she messaged me up and we got together for a short visit. We took her around town and had a fun fun catching up afterward at our house. I'm grateful for friends.

Our Valentines

Reena had a lot of fun making her Valentine's cards for her classmates. I actually went out looking for cards to buy but decided against it. I have all the stuff to make it so why not. I punch out the embellishment and she glued them to the cards and wrote in them.

Olive Garden was the restaurant we picked for our romantic Valentine's dinner and we wanted the kids to come also since they're into the Valentine spirit, too. But of course with the kids there's no such thing as romantic. Debrie fell asleep on the way there and woke up cranky and then had an accident and peed all over her daddy. She was upset with him and didn't tell him she needed to go. Oh well, the food was good and we made up with gift exchange. I made a cute bottle with hershey's kisses inside for Dan to take to work and I got clothes!!

One of the blogs my blog has been following was ourbestbites and this was their idea. I can't take the credit for it even though we did ours a little different. I showed Reena their melted crayons in heart shape and she wanted to make it immediately. She quickly collected all of the broken crayons and peeled the paper out of them. We made ours flowers and dinosaurs. We ended up giving the dinosaur ones to Jack who had a birthday on the following day.
We had a few days of really good weather, good enough to be outside without a jacket and our rhododendrons bloomed. Just in time for Valentine's Day for us to enjoy.
We spent Valentine's Day making heart shape food. Heart shape sandwiches and pizza.
Flowers, sweet treats, heart pizza, romantic dinner with hubby and family at a nice restaurant, all were great but nothing brings me more tears than this! Some day she'll be in her own dress and I will cry.

She melts my heart with her smile.
We had some friends over for dinner one day and their little boy had a birthday on that day. Being a party lover I could not bare the fact that he just had a cake so I reached in my many boxes of party items and put together a little party for him. We had all sort of themes but hey, he thought it was great.
The Seattle's Children's Museum
The princesses got all dressed up and had their daddy took them out to eat and I took them to the Children's Museum which had a castle and so many fun things for 2 little princesses to do.

In Debrie's preschool we learned to make bread and butter. For family home evening one night we made butter and had a lesson on self reliance. It was a lot of fun for the kids to watch the heavy whipping cream slowly turning into butter. The best part was of course eating the butter with rolls. We loved it so much Dan wanted to keep making more so we joined the home delivery food services so we could get fresh heavy whipping cream. I'm really liking fresh eggs and milk. Love the taste of Smith Brothers Farms milk!!
We have a lot of fun but it's not all play around here. We work hard but we also play hard. Dan spent hours on about 6 Saturdays building our wood fence in rain and shine and it's starting to look so beautiful with the trellises coming in. About every other section will be a trellis. We're planning on putting cucumber vines, grape vines, and kiwi on them. Can't wait to see the complete work. I'm so proud of my handy man!
Mopping the floor. Didn't think they would enjoy it this much. I'm glad we made 3/4 of our 1st floor wood to create more jobs for them :)
That's all the exciting stuff. Oh wait, one more. Dan is taking a class in robotics to sharpen his skills in hardware. I'm still on Real Estate practices, learning the "how to do it" now after learning all the Real Estate principles. Our regular week usually involves kindergarten, preschool, gymnastics for both girls, a lot of playdates with friends at our house. Every week I have Reena's friends from school asking if they could come over to our house to play. We made sure to have our builder leave the space underneath the stairway so the kids could have a toy closet for dress up and small toys.
We have a cool toy room that all of the kids friends really love. When Shelly and Matt's (our cousins) kids come over to play, they don't want to leave our house. I'm glad the kids' friends love to come over. I hope this carries over to their teenage years.

I had so much fun dressing this sweet little angel up and taking pictures of her. She calls me "Mamma" and sometimes "Mommy". How do you not love a kid that loves you?!My life seems complete as I wait each day for my love to come home from work and to hang out with my peeps during the day. Sometimes the best days are those that we go on walks around the park and trails by our house and enjoy the beauty that's around us. We see a lot of rainbows and that's also a bonus. This month we saw a double rainbow and the girls just screamed because they thought that was so cool. Rain or shine we love Seattle.
