First of all, Dan is done with the trellises and fence and got a lot of compliments from my friends on facebook and from our neighbors. I think it looks unique and pretty. We have plans for growing grapes and hardy kiwi on the trellises. I'm so proud of him.
March was an exciting month full of surprises. First the weather surprised us with some more snow. We were caught by surprise because most winters we don't even get down below 40 degrees which is pretty good for being all the way up here in the north. Thanks to being close to the sea we tend to stay around 40. But not this winter. What we've learned from this was: Don't set your expectation so high so you don't get so disappointed. We're still happy campers though because the last couple of days have been really nice. You really get used to where you live because what's warm for us is probably cold to all the desert people in Dan's family. Dan doesn't care for the heat so he's loving the northwest weather. I think the northwest is way far better than my expectation of it so it can't dampen my spirit. To be honest, it's pretty good for being as far north as it is.
Here are the pics of the snow in March. Kids always love the snow. As soon as we get a few flakes Debrie says "Let's go make a snowman". She was very happy when we got to make a snowman. They got out grapes, a carrot, paintbrushes for the snowman's arms, a hat and scarf, and even a fancy feather scarf.
Microsoft Surprise
March brought another surprise to us. It was a wonderful surprise because the kids' aunt Thuyen came for a visit. Microsoft came out to her school (UPenn) and interviewed a lot of people in her school and she was chosen to come out to Redmond for another interview. They paid for her flight, hotel, car, food and she was able to get an extended stay and hung out with us for a few days. The kids no doubt loved it. We all went out to eat in beautiful downtown Bellevue and Thuyen volunteered to take the kids for the night. The kids got to stay on the 9th level of the nice Westin Hotel and enjoyed room service pancakes and we were enjoying a nice quiet house and woke up when we wanted and it was so quiet and lovely.
Bavarian Christmas Town
Dan was still working on the trellis so we left him to his solitude to make the trellises and we took off for a little day trip. We went to Leavenworth because, well, what's there not to love about having all the boutique stores from California brought up here in a Bavarian setting and great desserts and beautiful scenery all surrounded by mountains?!!! Let's not forget that it's a Christmas town so you can celebrate Christmas in March and still enjoy all the decorations. We had so much fun shopping and trying on clothes, hats, and silly sunglasses. We also bought my favorite cream puffs that Papa bought for me at that same place. Yum!! I'm addicted to it. The kids enjoyed the carriage ride the most. They were spoiled at the Wooden toy shop. I need to spoil Thuyen's kids back because she spoiled mine.
Another big surprise from my sister is the fact that she accepted the job offer. Yes she got the offer. She thinks it's because she got lucky. Three of the five interviewers she had at Microsoft were LDS. She felt very comfortable once they jokingly asked her about President Utchdorf's talk last conference. She might think she got lucky but I think she's super smart to be able to get a job with Microsoft. I have really smart sisters. We're all studious and that's the Asian in us that I'm starting to embrace a little as I raise kids of my own and want them to excel. My sister will be staying with us for the summer even though Microsoft pays for her housing. She's going to take that money and buy food for us as the stipend. Yay!!
Shutters!
We ordered our shutters months ago and they finally came. But they were in the warehouse and not ready for delivery to our place. Dan was really hoping he could get them in the weekend before he left for his surprise visit. So he drove down to the warehouse and loaded our Honda Fit with all of those boxes. He also had our children with him so he could use the carpool lane. I think he broke like 20 different safety laws. I was so thankful he made it home safely. They don't call it the Fit for nothing!! All that in one trip!
This was probably the biggest surprise of the month! Dan's brother Troy e-mailed everyone that he was going to surprise his mom on her birthday by going through the temple where she works at and invited all of his siblings to join in and everyone did. They all coordinated it so well and everything worked out beautifully. They surprised their mom and you could imagine the emotion she had when she saw all 7 of her kids with her in the same celestial room. What a beautiful gift they were able to give to their mother who more than deserves it. It was an event he'll never forget.
Naughty or Nice
One day when I was making lunch for the kids and decided to go a little creative on the fruits and veggies and while I had my back turned, Brie as you could see here was eating her left over breakfast. I turned around after making their lunch and saw that the apple juice looked rather cloudy. I asked Brie if she had poured the milk in the juice bottle and she proudly said "I did mommy" and then said "I lied" and was proud of that, too. I was mad but I couldn't hold my mad face because her expression was so funny. She was guilty of the act and was so proud of it.

Oh and let's not forget that McD's and Costco gelato, hotdogs, and pizza cheers everyone in this house up on any given day. So unhealthy. Good thing the kids got Kidzbounce to bounce off the calories, I'm training for a marathon, and Dan's commute requires him to walk a bit. Whew!!

Another surprise
Brie does not let me brush her rat's nest hair nor does she keep a pony tail or pigtail on longer than 5 minutes, but she will sit there very still for me to put curls on her hair. I'll take that.
The garden fairy has brought us spring!!We had a lot of fun enjoying the beautiful weather after spring came on the 20th of this month and being with families. Dan's cousins, the Astles live 15 minutes from us so we see them often. We brought pie dessert over to their house to redeem myself from the crumbly cake I brought last time because I tried a no egg recipe. We hung out with Dan's aunt Margie, then we had Margie and the Astles over to our house for dinner. We celebrated with Matt and Shelly and the progress their baby is making on her journey to earth. We're so happy all is well. They had quite the scare but the baby made it through it all. Go baby!
Happy spring from my girls!

That's it folks. Thanks for visiting our blog and reading all the random stuff that I know you don't care to read but it's fun for me to talk about. I know you care when I see e-mail feedback from you. Behold the little surprises of life and be happy. I have a lot of non-member friends and the thing they admire about my fb wall is the positive things I post about. It's really easy to complain once you start complaining. There's so much to be happy about when you start seeing the little things in life. For example, I recently got a vase to hold my spring flowers and I was giddy like a little girl when I saw it. It made my day!! I'm excited for my birthday lunch with all my besties here soon and I'm excited for all the growth and progress my little ones are making.
