May II Debrie's Tangled Birthday Party

Throughout the year I watch for what kids really like that year and then I ask them what kind of birthday they would like to have and it's nice that Debrie is old enough to know what she likes.  She loves the movie Tangled and with the way her hair behaves, tangled is so perfect for her.  I've already posted so many pictures on fb and the reviews were that the party was a blast so I believe she had a lot of fun with 16 of her friends (Some of the sisters of her friends decided to come, too).  It was a mad house and she got presents enough to last her a whole year.  I can hardly believe that she's 3 years old.  I feel like she should only be 2 years.  We're way overdue for another baby but I feel like she's still my little baby.  Building a house took a year so that's probably where the year went.  She's so mature though.  Potty trained at 15 months, talked in full sentences by 20 months, and her reasoning is beyond funny.  She's a sweetheart and we're so blessed to have her in our family.  Here are pics from her party.
Rapunzel, let down your hair.  Each kid got to put a flower on Rapunzel's hair as they come in.

 The invitations

 The lanterns
The goody treats (mini braided yarn for hair,  hair brushes, paint brushes, sweet treats)
 Chocolate treats

There was a scene in the movie where Rapunzel and Flynn Rider went to a place called the Snuggly Duckling and met up with a bunch of Vikings looking Pub guys that became their friends.
So I cut up some cardboard, painting it and created a section of the party.

Paper plate and knife, hot glued in the back
Frying pans were big in the movie.  Rapunzel used it to protect herself, and Flynn Rider became a fan of it.  "Frying pan, who knew right?"
There were little banners like this all over the castle in the movie.  I decided to go fabric to make it look more realistic.
Dan helped with the cutting of course.

The cake.  Just a simple tower cake.  Didn't take quite as long to make as Reena's Dino cake.

Made with hot pink and purple cake, topped with hot pink buttercream icing and then marshmallow fondant.

Added some figurines and it's all Tangled.
The flowers have symbolism to the movie as well.  Mother Gothel found this exact same flower and sang to it to stay young.
The outside

Turn off the light and then....turn on the light and here comes the party!!!!

The party started.  I ran out of time and didn't take pictures of the food. Dan got a few pics here.

Game time!  Princess Tug War.  Each side took turns winning.

Pop/catch the bubbles with your frying pans ladies...

In Rapunzel's room is a painting she painted that shows her sitting watching the floating lanterns.  I just had to paint a similar painting for the party.  The kids each got to use their paint brushes to add their lantern to the painting.

Time for costume change and story time with the Queen.
What does Rapunzel or princesses like to read about?  Other princesses?  Fairies?  They chose both!

 Cake time!
It took her 5 blows to blows.
Now for slicing the cake up

 Presents presents!

I just love parties.  It was so nice not having to haul everything out to the park, though there was definitely more cleaning up afterward but well worth it.  Happy 3rd birthday to our sweet Brie.  We love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
