June I

I have so much to catch up on I don't know where to begin.  So much has happened this summer.  What an eventful summer!!  Starting with the beginning of June.
June started out kind of rough.  We've had a pretty smooth ride so it's only fair to others that we get a little bump.  You don't want to be too perfect anyway right?  It makes me sad that there are people who get jealous of a perfect family because there is no such thing.  My heart goes out to the LDS family in Houston that were shot dead by the ex uncle who in many articles were said to be jealous of the Stays family because they had everything he didn't have.  How awfully sad!!  After reading that to Dan I said "man I need to post sad things on my facebook more so people don't get jealous of me".  A week later I found out that my grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer.  I kid you not!!  I was so sad.  Our family have had a pretty smooth ride up until this point.  I guess be careful about what you said.   I had to redo my facebook a little while back with a different name and adding people again because there was a person totally stalking me.  I kept getting friends request from him and then later I found he created a false one and tried adding me again.  Creepy but it's probably me just being paranoid.  I wanted the news to be just within closest friends and many people shared with me the grief that our family was going through.  It was great to have such a great social support.

To make the story short I am more careful about what I show on my facebook and overall I kept it to mostly close friends.  My life has gotten quite busy anyway.  My grandma's health was slowly declining and my free time has been contributing to finding good plane tickets so she could meet our kids face to face.  Of course nothing was good in the summer and we were seeing about $6000 + on plane tickets.  Not fun!!!  But the kids need to know their roots and their extended family were very much looking forward to seeing them.

Ok enough said, here are pictures of things we did in June if you care to see them.  It makes me happy to be with my baby who is needing me right now.  I'm also ready for a nap.  This baby is teething a tons (7 teeth going on 8) and I have not had a good night sleep.  He's so active getting into everything and climbing like a cute little monkey onto everything.  He climbed on my elliptical several times and I should've seen it coming but that was where he fell and got his little fracture.  Thankfully no brain was damaged and thank goodness God created us with a skull to protect our brain because he is bumping into everything.  We absolutely love him though and wouldn't mind another boy.  They are just simple and cute!
I mean look at that face!  He has such an infectious smile and what a smiley baby!

I had a concert for Glee in June.  Like all other concerts my director asked if I could do a solo.  Unlike other times though he asked me to do a solo 3 days before the concert to fill up some time.  I literally had one practice with the pianist before performing.  I can't believe it turned out as well as it did and I was told after the concert by a few people that I ought to pursue a life in Broadway.  Oh how I would love to go back to the days of theater and all the dancing and singing.  But to trade time with the kiddos?  I think not.  My kids are familiar with me singing opera all the time and they clap after and that is quite enough.  No need for a bigger audience when I've got three energetic cheerful little ones.

Not the greatest recording but it's on the phone so to be expected.  Dan decided he would pull out his phone to record.  Sounds a whole lot better on the Glee CD
That's the link to a much better warmer smoother recording of the singing from Glee if you could access it.

After the concert we stopped by my friends house.  She had these cool stairs and a really cool view of the ocean. Seattle never ceased to amaze me how beautiful it is.

Then Reena had her Gymnastics Show and we all showed up to see her performed.  She did a great job and it was very fun to watch her improve so much.

 And so tall...

The following weekend we headed to Yakima, the palm springs of Washington, for a baseball game.  We were there to support our friends Zachary Fraser with his new team.  We were so excited for him that we went a whole day early!  It was a 2 hour drive...yeah we had milk shakes, burgers and fries at a local restaurant and headed home.
The next day we went back out.  Yes we love them that much!

We even stayed 'til the end to watch the fireworks

Reena had an "End of the Year" celebration at her school. They brought trucks of food and games and the PTSA went all out on decorations.  I was too busy talking and didn't take any pictures.  Shame on me.  We had a good time and that's the important part.

To make sure Dan earns his badge as the "Best Daddy", we had to order some more materials for another block wall.  We hired people to dig this time thank you very much.  We did quite a bit by ourselves (I still have calluses from the first block wall) but decided our time with the kids is much more important than all the little meaningless stuff we do around the house so we hired people to dig.  We ended up with a lot of dirt.  We liked the slope land for variation in landscape and such but oh boy that was a lot of dirt.
The night before Father's Day everyone was geared up for an early morning rise up to make breakfast in bed for daddy...SO MUCH that they each decided to come into our bedroom at 3 in the morning to sleep with daddy.  Luckily I had my phone nearby.  One by one they came and squeezed in.  First came Reena, then Debrie, then Ronin.  They love him.

Baby boy made his daddy all proud by standing up on his own for a little (yes he did that even though this picture showed him leaning on the chair)\
We finished mid June at playgroup with a party and then...
And then my sister came!  We did a bunch of stuff with her.  And we jogged.
We treated everyone up to the 73rd floor of the tallest building in Seattle (The Columbia Tower Observatory deck) for a 360 degree view of the beautiful Seattle area.

Clamming trip on Bremerton Island

We went clamming.  Yes the size of the oysters were huge!!!!!

My preschool had an "End of the Year" celebration.

Little guy getting so long he's sticking our of the car seat.
Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon Race
We had so much fun.  I had been training pretty consistently with my friend Natalia and my sister had been busy with school and didn't train.  She learned pretty quickly how painful that was.  Poor thing.  Although she's done more marathons and half marathons than I have done.  She was so much fun to race with.  It was a beautiful day with 22,000 crowding the city.  I'm sure they made a tons of money as that was the most expensive race I've ever done.  $135 per person X 22,000.  Yeah you do the math.

Right after the race we rushed over to Issaquah Dance Theater to see these beauties performed in their recital.  Debrie performed with her class and they did a song from Swan Lake and Reena performed with her hip hop class and they did the song by Sophia Grace "Girls just gotta have fun".  Reena performed that for everyone she meets for weeks.  She was so good.  Brie is as pretty as a swan and she knows it.
No photography allowed so here she is backstage.

 Smiley baby took 2 steps!!
We headed off to Utah with Thanh, Alex, and Mike where we took Mike to BYU to show him around so he could be more familiar with it before starting his summer classes.  We also went to a water park and a few other fun stuff.  See you on the next blog for June.
