June Bloom Adventure Part I

June was a very fun month for me. My great aunt Di Tho came from Vietnam for a visit.  It was her first time visiting the USA and she and I communicated for months on places she would like to visit when she's in the States.  She came to New York first, on the 14th of May, then went to Philadelphia, Boston, D.C, Florida and then came to Seattle.  When she came we took her around the touristy places in town and she loved everything she saw, but her favorite were the trees.  She said it is so picturesque here in Seattle every where you turn.  I loved hearing all the praises she gave this place.  It deserves it!  She stayed for 3 days and then she and I and Ronin flew to Vegas, one of the places on her list to visit.  Dan worked from home that week and played Mr. Mom.  We stayed with Dan's parents for a few days and then headed to San Francisco.  We had some flight problems, one was missing the announcement on gate changes because I was on the phone trying to get a refund of the hotel in Los Angeles, but everything worked out in the end.  Overall, what a trip!  Ronin was a wonderful traveler. Love that kid!

Mall shopping, tea tasting.  She loved everything about the life we have here and gave me compliments left and right on the decor I chose for the house.

I packed as light as possible and didn't even bring my camera but I think my phone did a pretty good job.  She didn't like how dry and dead looking Vegas looked, but she enjoyed the Strip and took lots of pictures there.
We went through everything and exposed Ro to all the germs and smoke, poor kid, but he was just excited as she was to see new things.  He got a pretty good tan from all the walking around we did

My sister came into town to be with us.  She and Di Tho have not seen each other for nearly 9 years.  It was a wonderful reunion for us.  We took her to the Hoover Dam and then the Strip again for another day

I took everyone, including Dan's parents out to to eat at the Stratosphere

Dan's parents watched Ronin one morning and Di Tho took us out to eat some Viet food. Then we went for some gelato.  We had gelato about 3 times while walking around the strip.  My fav: Blackberry, coconut and mango.  Yum!

The Venetian is probably my favorite.  I love the romantic decor

Dan's parents took us to the hill by the Vegas temple.  A little bit of a drive up but worth it.
Perhaps one of the biggest costs for this trip was car rental.  I spent way way more than I intended to spend but she is only here maybe a few times in her life and I treated her as if I would treat my grandma if my grandma came with her (which was the original plan).  Because of that, I drove every where, trying to give her the best views and experience.  The Oakland temple hill was a perfect pick!

I missed Dan a lot on our trip but having Ro with me is having a little mini Dan nearby.  This kid looks so much like his daddy to me, and to a lot of people that see him.

When we wrapped up San Francisco ( she took a lot more pictures than I did.  We were just here in January so I won't repost a lot of those pics), we came back to Seattle.  I told her that she has not seen all the pretty local places to see in Seattle and that she must come back.  She was in tears leaving and wishing she had another month here!

She enjoyed eating fresh veggies from my garden, especially these sugar snap peas that VN does not have.
And you can't come to Seattle without having fresh seafood.

Thanks for visiting!  See you on the next blog.  Coming soon...Wild Waves Theme Park, baby announcements...
