April - The Birthday Bash

April was a little more exciting than March.  It started off with a birthday. My Second Annual 29th birthday.  I'm having a hard time accepting the fact that I'm 30, especially because my sisters and I all inherited my mother's genes and we all look younger than our age.  My mother called and said the sweetest thing on my birthday.  She said I hardly look 20 years old.  How sweet!!
Just like last year I got to go to lunch with my friends.  This time we had the kids.  The whole day was filled with fun activities. The little boy next to me is the one I started watching and his mom is the one in the pinkish shirt.  They are a totally nerdy family.

Night time came and we had birthday dinner with some friends from Scotland.  Meet the McLaughlins.  They are awesome people!
Their son and I shared a birthday wish together.  His birthday was 2 days after mine.

My preschool kids brought me flowers and chocolate.  So sweet and thoughtful

This was probably the best birthday present though.  A new little person in our family.  #bumpstartingtoshow #scaredtoseethe40thweekbutexciting!!
On my birthday our preschool had a field trip to the fire station.  A little break for me and very fun for the little ones.
These are my cute preschool kids.  Love them!!!

Reena's field trip to Mercer Slough
Reena had a field trip in the rain.  It was messy but boy those kids loved the mud.  It's only fair that it rained because we had unbelievably amazing spring weather.  It was very sunny in April in Seattle!!  But not on the day her class hiked and looked for living things in the woods and slough.  They found through the microscopes many living things.  She loved her experience and I loved chaperoning her class.  The kids in her class know me as the art teacher so I got asked even on their field trip if we were doing art :)
Those plants were so beautiful and smelled so good.  But careful not to step on them or else they stink.  Skunk cabbages.  Very interesting!

Seattle Aquarium
We took the kids back to the Seattle Aquarium.  We got a membership there since the kids were so thrilled with everything they saw.  Brie was younger when we went last year and the year before that but this year she really got into it.  Our kids are hilarious in that seeing the fish made them hungry for fish so we all went out to eat Fish and Chips at Anthony's Fish Bar (a highly recommended place) on the pier.

The Seattle Aquarium is set right on the pier looking out to Puget Sound.  I love going there even for just the view.
Brie really wanted to take this Octopus home.  Then she said she wanted to go eat some fish.  So we all headed over to the piers and went to Anthony's Fish Bar and had some fish and chips.
Frasers visit and spring kick off bbq with the besties

We can't get enough of these guys.  Loved all the time they were able to spend with us.  We spent 3 days together and we are planning on going to Victoria, BC with them in July.

The rest of the time in April were spent outdoors doing various different things.  Playing with neighbors, picnicking, fishing, eating ice cream, playing at the park.  #weloveSeattle!!!

Gardening.  We spent a lot of time gardening.  Weeding, shoveling and separated rocks, pruning our pears, peach, cherries, apples, and plum trees.

We are now members of the Kidzbounce.  Those kids have too much energy!
Swimming at our very favorite pool house.  Dan plays indoor soccer here also.
Reena went to a classmate's birthday party that got her all into horses.  She will be taking some horseback riding lessons in the summer.
